Air Seychelles plans to acquire a fourth B767 aircraft to keep its growth trajectory and bolster its market presence. Executive Chairman of Air Seychelles, Capt. David Savy, says the planned lease of a B767-205EM aircraft from International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) would support increase in frequencies on international routes, the opening of new routes and enable the airline to operate charter flights on an adhoc basis.
“Growth is critical in our survival and risk-mitigation strategy which is a key element in our corporate strategy and we believe that growth must continue so as to maintain and grow our market share, thus the necessity to increase our international fleet with the acquisition of a fourth Boeing aircraft, a B767-205EM,” states Capt. Savy.
The B767-205EM aircraft was manufactured in 1984 and will be powered by Pratt & Whitney JTD9 engines.
He identifies the airline’s priorities in the face of increases in fuel prices and its cascading effects as the enhancement of revenues and improvement on service delivery. Part of steps towards better customer service delivery is the recent launch of Air Seychelles’ new duty-free sales outlet at Seychelles International Airport, the airlines says.
Capt. Savy equally declares that Air Seychelles would face a delay in taking delivery of the two B787 Dreamliner aircraft originally planned for delivery in May 2010 and September 2010 due to production delays at Boeing. He adds, however, that both aircraft from ILFC are expected to be delivered in May 2012 and November 2012.
