Delta Airlines To Tackle Fuel Cost Impact With Route Mix
Delta Airlines says the mix of its international destinations will be useful to the airline in reducing the effects of global increases in fuel prices on its operations. The airline which operates 609 weekly flights to 62 destinations commenced flights to more cities from Atlanta in 2007 including Lagos, Nigeria. The rationalization of capacity is also a prospective contributor to Delta’s progressive measures.
The Executive Vice President, Networking, Planning and Revenue Management, Delta Airlines, Mr. Glen Hauenstein states: “Importantly, the growing mix of unique international destinations that Delta’s customers value, combined with domestic capacity rationalization, provides the network balance necessary to help mitigate the financial impact of record high fuel prices.”
The America-based airline reported a 13.9% increase in its international traffic in June 2008 while maintaining an international load factor of 83.3% in June 2008 compared to June 2007.
