DANA Takes Two MD83s, To Fly Legacy 600Jet

Mr Jack Hathiramani, MD, DANA GroupDana Airlines says it has taken delivery of two Boeing McDonnel Douglas 83 aircraft under its fleet expansion programme. Managing Director of Dana Group, Mr. Jack Hathiramani, says the Boeing MD83s will be added to the fleet in the fourth quarter of 2008.

The Nigeria-based airline is also expecting a new Bombardier Learjet 45XR, brand new Embraer to join its fleet between 2009 and 2011.

Meanwhile, Danajets, the charter division of Nigeria-based Dana Airlines, says it has also signed a contract with Embraer for the purchase of Legacy 600 executive jet. The airline says it has paid an initial deposit for the airplane, valued at a list price of US$ 26.93 million, based on January 2009 economic conditions.

This is the second order by the airline which announced a deal for three other Embraer executive jets, two Phenom 100s and one Phenom 300 in November 2007.

The 13-seat configuration Legacy 600, is scheduled for delivery in December 2009 while the delivery of the Phenom jets is expected to begin in 2011. Embraer states that the choice of the Legacy 600 aircraft will enable Dana Airlines “to provide passengers with unequalled comfort and internal space in this category, with the flexibility and reliability of a proven aircraft.”
