Unruly Passengers …NCAA To Clamp Down On Unruly Air Travellers

muhtarrIncidents of incensed passengers staging attacks on airlines' staff and property would no longer be tolerated as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) recently states that it will treat such offences as criminal cases and offenders will face criminal prosecution.

The CAA says it is statutorily empowered to provide an enabling environment for safe and secure air transportation, adding that it will, however, not allow any airline official's life to be ridiculed publicly or endangered, hence, warns all such perpetrators to desist or face serious charges.

NCAA explains that the warning became necessary following the prevalence of reports from some of the nation's airports detailing brutal attacks on officials of airlines, describing such attacks as embarrassing and discourteous to the affected officials.

On the other hand, the Authority says it undoubtedly recognizes that the operating airlines must at all times uphold the conditions of carriage and contract on each passenger's ticket. However, passengers are not expected to take laws into their hands if and when there are operational hiccups which are capable of truncating air services, it states.
