Dr. Boubacar Djibo is now leading
activities as the Director of Transport Bureau at the International
Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He was until this appointment
the Secretary of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC).
While at AFCAC, Dr. Djibo worked closely on key initiatives in the
areas of implementation of the Yamoussoukro Decision and regional
integration, safety, training harmonization, security, among others
together with the African Airlines Association (AFRAA), regional
economic communities in Africa as well as ICAO and IATA. Now at
ICAO, Dr. Djibo is expected to foster improved relationship between
the African r
egion and ICAO while
driving innovation at the Transport Bureau. Dr. Djibo is versed in
aviation policy and has worked extensively in various capacities in
the African aviation region. Dr. Djibo was Aerodynamics, Flight
Mechanics and Flight Mechanics and Flight Operations Instructor at
the African Civil Aviation and Meteorological School (EAMAC). In
1984, he served as the Chief of Air Transport Services and Chief of
Air Navigation Services in Niger's Directorate of Civil Aviation.
He was Member of the Board of Directors of Air Afrique;
Vice-President of AFCAC for the Western Region; Member, Board of
Directors of ASECNA and Director Civil Aviation of Niger. Mr. Djibo
attended the Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT) Centre for
Advanced Engineering Study in Cambridge for his advanced study
program in Strategic
Management.
Also, Ms. Iyabo Sosina is now the
Secretary General of AFCAC. Until her appointment at AFCAC, Ms.
Sosina was the Director of Air Transport Regulation at the Nigerian
Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). She brings to AFCAC years of
experience in the aviation industry built up mainly in the Nigerian
aviation industry. She worked previously in the International
Relations Division of the Nigeria's Ministry of Aviation as Senior
Assistant Secretary, Principal Assistant Secretary and Asst. Chief
Aviation Officer. She worked in the Nigerian Civil Aviation
Authority (NCAA), Air Transport Regulation Directorate as Asst.
General Manager, Deputy General Manager, General Manager and lastly
as Director (ATR) before coming to AFCAC. She holds a first degree
in History/Political Science, Masters Degree in International
History, a diploma in Civil Aviation Management and diploma in
Airport Management. She also attended the London School of
Economics & Political Science (LSE), University of London and
Aviation Training & Development Institute (IATA), Canada.
