Following the new political administration in Nigeria, a new
Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi, was recently
appointed for Nigeria.
The Minister who has a private sector back-ground says industry
transformation is the thrust of her leadership. "We have to
transform Nigeria. Let us transform starting from now," she says.
She is already working with airlines and aviation fuel marketers to
address the high cost of Jet A1 which has made airline operation
and air travel expensive in Nigeria.
The Minister expresses displeasure over the poor state of major
airports in Nigeria, after completing inspection of airports in
Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria's commercial and political capitals,
respectively. Mrs. Oduah-Ogiemwonyi replaces Dr. (Mrs.) Fidelia
Njeze, who served as Nigeria's Aviation Minister from early 2010 to
June 2011.
