The operations of Lufthansa in West Africa is to be driven by a
new Managing Director, Mr. Claus Becker, with effect from November
1, 2011. He replaces Mr. Herbert Reichle who has served as Managing
Director of Lufthansa West Africa in the past five years, during
which period he brought the Lufthansa operations closer to more
travellers in the emerging market in West Africa. Mr. Becker had
arrived Lufthansa's base in Lagos, Nigeria, in November having
served at Lufthansa operations in Germany, France and other parts
of Europe. Mr. Becker is acclimatizing with the new and emerging
market environment in West Africa, working with Mr. Reichle who is
retiring end of 2011. Mr. Becker says he will continue to ensure
that the Lufthansa brand gets stronger foothold in the market in
the region while exploring partnership opportunities in the
region as well. Mr. Reichle describes the market in Nigeria as
important to Lufthansa operations in the Africa region with huge
opportunities for the present and the long-term. According to him,
Lufthansa has established a strong bonding between the region and
Germany with the interconnectivity on the airline's extensive
network across Europe and beyond. Lufthansa has as well
developed human capacity in the region under its
international training programme in which a number of African
students have demonstrated remarkable brilliance.

Lufthansa operates from Frankfurt
to Lagos, Malabo, Accra and Abuja on the West Africa services.
Lufthansa is one of the world's leading airline brands bringing the
A380 to Johannesburg. It offers over 200 flights to more than 80
countries.
Meanwhile, Lufthansa says it is
increasing its Accra/Frankfurt service from five weekly non-stop
flights to a daily service with a newly configured Boeing 737-800
Intercontinental, featuring the airline's latest product.
According to the airline, further
enhancement of the flight schedule will allow travellers enjoy
greater flexibility and the convenience of a daily link with
Lufthansa's Frankfurt hub, one of the world's leading gateways for
air travel.
