Uganda has indicated interest to be
the host of the 18th Africa-Indian Ocean (AFI) Regional Planning
and Implementation Group (APIRG) Meeting in November 2011.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda, the last
edition held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in 2010. The Authority
notes that the APIRG meetings ensure implementation of the AFI
regional plans. The plans take into account the effect of
developments in adjacent regions, especially challenges in air
navigation and the mitigating measures considered appropriate for
their resolution.
The Director of Air Navigation
Services, Engineer John Tusubira Kagoro, was elected Chairperson
for 3 years at the meeting in Ouagadougou.
