Starting October 2011, South
African Airways (SAA) says it has concluded plans to launch flight
operations to Ndola in Zambia. According to the airline which
recently bagged the best "Service Excellence in Africa" award, SAA
will fly to Ndola three times a week, in pursuance of the goal to
strengthen its African route network.
SAA notes that the introduction of
this new route will provide a convenient air connection between
South Africa and Zambia. "The introduction of this route is aligned
to the airline's growth strategy, which aims to introduce new
services to feasible destinations, enhancing business travel which
effectively nurtures economic growth on the African continent,"
states Mr. Theunis Potgieter, SAA's GM Commercial.
The airline discloses that the
route will be serviced by the A319 aircraft which accommodates 120
customers in a two-class configuration, which includes business and
economy class. SAA says its flights to Ndola will operate on
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, adding that it is working closely
with its partner, SA Airlink, to complement their early morning
departures from Johannesburg to give their customers increased
travel options.
The introduction of the new route
follows SAA's recent announcement of three new routes to Bujumbura
in Burundi, Kigali in Rwanda, and Cotonou in Benin, coming on from
31 October this year.
