Kulula.com, in partnership with
Interactive Africa, says it flew 10.5 tons of aid to Somalia in a
Boeing 737-200 recently. The airline states that the aid was handed
over to humanitarian organization 'Gift of the Givers' for
distribution in the famine-ravaged area. Kulula notes that the 10.5
ton consignment was flown by Imperial Air Cargo, Kulula's air cargo
partnership with the Imperial Group. It adds that the consignment
included food supplies, bottled water and other essentials.
Managing Director of Interactive Africa, Mr. Ravi Naidoo, notes:
"The acute malnutrition and death rates have surpassed famine
thresholds, especially among young children.
